英検の話題だらけになっているのでたまには英語に関してお届けします。笑

日本の諺は実は英語の諺から来たものも多いんですよね。

例えば「豚に真珠」 To cast pearls before swine.

他には

「時は金なり」Time is money.
「一石二鳥」Kill two birds with one stone.
「大山鳴動して鼠一匹」The mountains have brought forth a mouse.
「血は水よりも濃し」Blood is thicker than water.
「習慣は第二の天性なり」 Habit is a second nature.
「必要は発明の母」Necessity is the mother of invention.
「事実は小説よりも奇なり」Truth is stranger than fiction.
「二兎を追うものは一兎をも得ず」If you run after two hares, you will catch neither.

明治のころに入った諺なので日本の諺と思い込んでいる人も多いでしょうね。
